The Start Location for this event is 1119 Lake Rd, Ontario, NY.
The 200k Lap of Rochester is a winter randonneuring loop that circles the Rochester metro area while taking advantage of one of the region’s most unusual cycling features: the seasonal Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge. Installed each winter to span the mouth of Irondequoit Bay, the bridge allows riders to cross directly from Irondequoit to Webster rather than detouring far inland. The route begins with a stretch of Lake Ontario shoreline riding, where the open water and lake winds set the tone for the day before the course arcs away from the coast and begins its broad loop around the city.
From there the ride settles into the rhythm familiar to western New York brevets: rolling terrain, quiet farm roads, and small towns connected by long rural stretches. Riders trace a wide circle through the countryside surrounding Rochester before gradually working their way back toward the lake basin. The route combines exposed lakeshore riding, sheltered inland roads, and steady but manageable elevation changes, creating a classic early-season brevet—one that rewards steady pacing and good winter judgment while showcasing the varied landscapes around Rochester.
